Eka Global increases production capacity by 15%

Producing over 2,850 million longevity packaging per year will increase Thai SMEs’ business opportunity and enhance worldwide consumers’ new normal lifestyle

While the world is fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic, Eka Global, Asia’s No. 1 longevity packaging producer, has enjoyed constantly increasing demand for its rigid barrier plastic packaging driven by new normal lifestyle. The 10th production line has been added, enabling the company to increase its production capacity by 15%.

The additional production line, which is completed and began commercial production in September 2021, will add over 350 million pieces per annum to Eka Global’s existing production capacity of 2,500 million pieces. This will boost the total annual production capacity to 2,850 million pieces per year.

Mr. Chaiwat Nantiruj, Group CEO of Eka Global Co., Ltd., said, “The COVID-19 pandemic has changed people’s way of life. Self -quarantine and food delivery have been an integral part of our new normal lifestyle. The global food delivery industry sees significant increase in the demand for longevity packaging that promotes food safety and provides greater convenience for consumers.”

Since the COVID-19 took the entire world in 2020, Eka Global has been producing at its maximum capacity. The company has received more and more orders from its customers across Asia Pacific, the US and Europe. Finally, the company decided to make investment in the 10th production line.

“Demand for longevity packaging will continue in the future with or without COVID-19,” said Chaiwat. “Visionary food producers, exporters and local SMEs have also realized this and are looking for high quality longevity packaging.”

Together with its commitment to being the innovative leader in longevity packaging market, Eka Global really cares about the environment. The company also sees that environmentally friendly packaging is a critical tool to enable Thai food producing SMEs to expand their business overseas and increase competitiveness in the global market

“We aim to minimize the impact of our business on the environment,” said Chaiwat. “Circular economy concept is key to business development to achieve sustainable growth. We have introduced 360-degree waste management policy. Our products are already 100% recyclable, but we are not yet satisfied.

“Our R&D team is working hard to come up with more environmentally friendly innovations. Among other research projects we are working on is to use plant-based raw materials to replace petroleum products. Our goal is clear, that is to allow consumers to enjoy new normal lifestyle and food safety while showing their responsibility towards the environment.”
